WHY DON'T YOU ACCEPT E-MAIL ATTACHMENTS?
We accept e-mail attachments from sources that we know well. Other e-mail attachments are avoided to ensure that we do not receive any viruses.

HOW DO WE FILE A COMPLAINT?
Please visit review our policies for assistance.

WHY DO YOU HAVE DVERTISNG LINKS ON YOUR SITE?
We have expenses like other organizations that provide similar information. NPR has fundraisers. TV stations and newspapers have advertising. The Better Business Bureau has membership fees and they sell advertising to members. Our commercial links provide income without influence since the income from any single link is minimal.

DO YOU ACCEPT ADVERTISING?
No, but we derive income from links, and hope that our readers visit them.

DO YOU ENDORSE THE LINKS ON YOUR SITE?
No. Links will, however, be removed if we receive valid and meaningful complaints about the organization involved.

WHY DO YOU CHARGE FOR SENDING LETTERS?
We have two primary reasons for charging when we invest time trying to get refunds for individuals. One is to eliminate small and frivolous complaints. From the fees we pay for supplies, postage, and the time required to review all complaints submitted. In a few cases we need to research to determine who to contact about a complaint.

DO THE ORGANIZATIONS SHOWN ON THE LINKS ENDORSE RIPOFFS.ORG?
No. The links do not represent endorsements of our site.

HOW DOES THE NEWS ON YOUR SITE COMPARE WITH COMPLAINTS TELEVISION, RADIO, OR NEWSPAPERS?
Complaints on our site can be permanent. If you miss a newspaper or news broadcast you will obvioulsy miss information in it. They also have limited space, which means that your complaint may not get published. We have room for virtually every complaint. Obviously, many news broadcasts and newspapers reach more people than our site on a given day.

WHAT IF I JUST WANT TO LET OTHER PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT A RIP-OFF AND DON'T CARE ABOUT A REFUND?
Send us the story. We will evaluate it for publication

DO YOU DO INVESTIGATIVE JOURNALISM?
Yes. Most information that we received is investigated and compared with other information. We often build a file of multiple complaints before taking any action.

WHAT DO I DO IF I DISAGREE WITH A COMPLAINT?
Send a response to response@ripoffs.org

WHY DON'T YOU PUBLISH A PHONE NUMBER?
We're not very popular with some people.

HOW ARE YOU INVOLVED IN CLASS ACTION LAWSUITS?
We accumulate information and provide it to appropriate attorneys. We will not support any class action lawsuits that we consider frivolous or inapprorpriate.

HOW DOES AN ATTORNEY GET INVOLVED WITH YOU?
Send information about your practice (we to not accept e-mail attachments) by mail or e-mail.

WHAT DO YOU DO ABOUT CRIMINAL COMPLAINTS?
We provide all of the information that we accumulate to appropriate law enforcement officials.

ARE YOUR SERVICES ONLY AVAILABLE IN THE US?
It is easier for us to work in the US, but we will assist with rip-offs anywhere in the world. We intend to develop international associations.

WHY DOESN'T YOUR SITE HAVE MORE GRAPHICS?
We do not want to sacrifice bandwidth or dollars to graphics. This allows us to provide more content and save money on design.

DO YOU COOPERATE WITH OTHERS?
We cooperate with individuals and organizations that have interests in common with us. Join our team
