COMCAST
"Our two businesses are located in an area where, unfortunately, Comcast is our only option for high speed Internet service. We also got an additional phone line from Comcast because AT&T could not add another line without significant rewiring. For most of the past week we have had no Comcast Internet Service or Comcast phone service for our businesses. This has already cost us hundreds, perhaps, thousands of dollars. On Friday, a Comcast technician spent 5 hours at our location attempting to make our service work. All of the signals were virtually perfect, but there was apparently some confusion over programming at the central office because none of the for modems that the technician brought were recognized by Comcast servers. The Comcast phone is working fine, which verifies that there are no issues with the signal."
"This is taking a terrible toll on our businesses, which are very dependent upon the Internet. I find it extremely irritating that every time, which is frequently, that I have to call Comcast I hear them promoting their services as reliable for businesses. I am angry and worried because I do not know if Comcast will ever fix the problem. If they do not fix it soon, they will likely destroy at least one of our businesses. I called the corporate offices and was transferred to the "office of the president" where I was promised that:
- the situation will be escalated;
- "leadership" at corporate would be notified;
- "leadership" in Indiana would be notified;
- I would get a call back the same day.
Nothing, however, has improved so I am ordering an Air Card for each computer from AT&T. If you are considering using Comcast for your business, consider the costs of downtime."
ADVERTISING
Businesses continue to pay for advertising in publications that don't exist because bookkeepers receive formal invoices. Perhaps the biggest scam is the yellow page scam. Hundreds of thousands of dollars have been paid to companies that use a yellow page logo on their invoices, but do not actually publish books or websites.
Your bookkeeper should be able to identify the invoice from legitimate yellow page providers and destroy others.
